This is a course in the development, writing, and delivery of one sequence (<20 script pgs) + an outline of a feature screenplay. The class will be in two parts : lesson & laboratory — both intended to inspire the natural artistic instinct, curiosity & desire in you as you develop your film. Each week we will focus on an element of story : How do you go from seeds & ideas — to weaving a story — to writing a cinematic script ? Guided by lessons, writing prompts, film viewings (curated specifically for each week’s element), the course will give you room to explore, imagine, and write. This Lab is a space open to you after completing the Screenwriting Course. More than a traditional writing workshop, this is a communal generative force. We meet once a week to share, give and take notes, develop and make our films. You are welcome to continue writing the screenplay you began in the course or bring in other material (rough cuts, audition tapes, treatments, pitch decks, anything you’d like fresh eyes on) or simply ignite a creative conversation about something on your mind, in your chest... Film Philosophy Course

This course explores the intricate relationship between philosophy and the cinematic medium. Rather than approaching theory as an abstract end in itself, the course treats philosophy as a tool for analyzing lived experience and deepening our understanding of our relationship to cinema. Its aim is ultimately to sharpen our ability to recognize what transforms a cinematic scene into a work of art. Through thinkers such as Henri Bergson, Gilles Deleuze, Alain Badiou, and Ludwig Wittgenstein, we will watch and discuss a series of films in order to better understand the possibilities cinema reveals and unfolds. No prior background in philosophy is required, as the course will remain grounded in clarity, concrete experience, and direct engagement with film itself.. Instructor : Noé Dodson

Learn directly from Sonia Oleniak, artist, independent filmmaker, and educator. Sonia brings over 10 years of experience working in film, theater, and the arts, as well as 5 years of experience teaching Filmmaking and Screenwriting, guiding students through every stage of their creative journey.

In these private one-to-one sessions, you’ll have the space to discuss your specific project and ask relevant questions. Whether your project is far in development or just beginning to emerge, Sonia offers to help you realize it on the page. You can expect generative feedback, writing exercises, assigned readings or screenings, discussions about medium, and strong encouragement. Private mentoring is open to writers/filmmakers/artists of any experience level and background. Before the first session, you will provide the material you have and identify your goals for your project/practice and our work together. This will help Sonia get a sense of your voice and tailor a session specific to your needs.

- Send in your own project and material (treatment, script pages, packets welcome)
*60 mins / Make sure to come as prepared as possible with your questions and materials to make it count!

Sessions can be booked individually or as a series for deeper learning and mentorship or project overview. The first initial session is offered for $250 where Sonia will dive into your material in depth a week before meeting. If you’d like to book aditional sessions, this will be determined based on the scale of the project and material (range: $75-95).

- After booking, a private Zoom link will be sent to your email with the form (on the right) if you haven’t filled it out already (this is where you will attach your material - minimum 1 week before the private session )

Class Requirements + Additional Information For All Courses

After booking a class you will receive a pdf with the course’s outline + syllabus + instructions for your first writing or directing assignment.

A Welcome Email will be sent out a couple days before class. Here, your instructor will provide you with any additional materials - such as film files or reading lists. Our collective of instructors are award-winning independent filmmakers from all over the world (US, France, Brazil, UK, Poland, Japan, Netherlands, China, Germany) with fire in their hearts.

In order to give each artist & filmmaker’s work the necessary attention, class size is 8-12max. You should expect to spend minimum 4 hours a week on work outside of class.

In case life happens it is possible to request a full refund 2 weeks before class, half refund 1 week before class, or exchange a class for another season the first week of class. Email us your request - or with any questions that bubble up!
